HKSFA aims to establish the HKSFA Best Research Report Competition as a benchmark for the highest standard of excellence in research report writing, thus encouraging investment professionals to act in the interest of investors, thereby creating a better future for the financial and investment communities.
Apart from including fundamental sections, such as investment summary, business description, industry, valuation, financial analysis and risk, an outstanding research report should also be well-articulated, provide insight and unique rationale to support its stance in a multi-angle manner.

For each entry, the name of the analysts and their company name will be removed for fairness purpose before sending to the first round judges for evaluation. Each report will be graded by two first-round judges.

Then, submissions of top ten average score will go to the second round, in which they will be graded by every final judges and top three will be shortlisted.

Submission is eligible if it fits in either of the following conditions:
  • Analysts who are based in Hong Kong
  • Subject company of the submission is primarily listed in Hong Kong
Only one of the authors could be the representative running for BRRC with a single report.
For the time being, only equity report on a single company, which is listed or scheduled to be listed, is eligible for submission. The submitted report must be published in English within the last twelve months from the closing date. There is no restriction on the number of page of the report.
We have selected and invited final judges of BRRC with the set of criteria below;
  • Experienced buy-side fund managers (preferably CFA charterholders) for at least 10-year experience
  • With enthusiasm to evaluate and comment on the published sell-side equity research reports

Top three winners of each category and winner of Best Research House will be invited for the award ceremony and presented with prize trophies in front of prestigious audiences made up of celebrities from the industry.

The results of competition may be published at renowned local and global media platforms, taking reference from BRRC 2014, the results was published in both online and print media of Hong Kong Economic Journal and South China Morning Post as well as www.etnet.com.hk.
