1. Where is HKSFA located?

2. What is the relationship between CFA Institute and HKSFA?
CFA Institute is world-renowned as the administrator of the CFA Programme. It has 138 member societies worldwide and HKSFA is one of them located in Hong Kong.

4. How do I update my personal information with HKSFA and CFA Institute?
To update your personal particulars with HKSFA, please send us an email at info@hksfa.org or do it through our website at http://www.hksfa.org/membership_update.php.
To update the CFA Institute's record, please send them an email at cmservices@cfainstitute.org or info@cfainstitute.org, or do it through their website at http://www.cfainstitute.org.
5. How can I get access to the member access only area of the HKSFA website?
You are given the set of access codes by email when you are approved as a new member. If you miss the email, please click the "Forgot password" link and complete the request form, or send your enquiry to us at info@hksfa.org. Kindly quote your membership number in all correspondences.
Membership
1. How many classes of membership are there in HKSFA?
There are three classes of membership in HKSFA.  They are Regular Members, Affiliate Members and Associate Members.  For details, please visit http://hksfa.org/membership.php?code=mpmt
2. How long does it take to process my membership application?
For Associate Member application, it will take 3-4 weeks.  For Regular or Affiliate Member, it will take 6-8 weeks.  For details of application procedures, please visit http://hksfa.org/membership.php?code=maf.
3. What are the benefits of joining HKSFA?

4. How much do I have to pay for HKSFA membership fees?
There is a one-time Joining Fee of HK$500 and a yearly Annual Dues for each class of membership.  
Associate Member : both the Joining Fee (HK$500) and Annual Dues (HK$780) will be billed by HKSFA. 
Regular Member and Affiliate Member : the Joining Fee (HK$500) will still be billed by HKSFA.  You should receive a payment link when HKSFA approves your membership application.  Alternatively, you may choose to pay by cheque or in cash at the HKSFA Office.  For payment by cheque, it should be made payable to "HKSFA" and sent to the HKSFA office at 14/F, BOC Group Life Assurance Tower, 136 Des Voeux Road Central, Hong Kong.  For Annual Dues (US$100), please pay at your own account page of CFA Institute's website.

5. How do I apply to become an Associate Member?
Please complete an Application Form, a Sponsor Form and an Ethics Declaration Form and return them to HKSFA at 14/F, BOC Group Life Assurance Tower, 136 Des Voeux Road Central, Hong Kong.  You may send us a crossed cheque made payable to "HKSFA" for both the Joining Fee and Annual Dues when you send in your application or wait until your application has been approved.  For the payment of membership fees, you may request HKSFA to send you a payment link for credit card payment, or pay it by cheque or in cash at the HKSFA Office.
6. How do I apply to become a Regular Member or an Affiliate Member?
If you would like to apply for both the memberships of CFA Institute and HKSFA as a Regular Member or Affiliate Member, please submit your application via CFA Institute's website at www.cfainstitute.org.  Please make sure you have indicated that you would like to add the Hong Kong Society membership. You are required to submit either (1) three professional references, or (2) one reference from a regular member of HKSFA and one professional reference. Supervisor references are preferred. Your references will receive instructions for completing the process. At the same time, please also submit a "Personal Particulars of Member" form to us at info@hksfa.org or by post at 14/F, BOC Group Life Assurance Tower, 136 Des Voeux Central, Hong Kong.  Please note that a Regular Member or an Affiliate Member of HKSFA must also be a member of CFA Institute.
7. If I am a Regular Member or Affiliate Member of CFA Institute, am I automatically a member of HKSFA? If not, how can I apply for the membership of HKSFA?
No, unless you apply for both organisations' memberships when you first submit your Regular or Affiliate Membership Application and professional references. If you are a member of CFA Institute and would like to apply for the membership of HKSFA, please indicate that you would like to add membership to the Hong Kong Society via your own account page of CFA Institute's website at www.cfainstitute.org. Please also complete a “Personal Particulars of Member” form and return it to us by email at info@hksfa.org or by post at 14/F, BOC Group Life Assurance Tower, 136 Des Voeux Road Central, Hong Kong.
8. If I am a Regular Member or an Affiliate Member of a CFA Institute member society, can I also join HKSFA as a member?
Yes. If you are a Regular Member or an Affiliate Member of CFA Institute, you may apply for membership of more than one CFA Institute member societies. Please submit your request via CFA Institute's website at www.cfainstitute.org and do it at your own account page. At the same time, please complete a "Personal Particulars of Member" Form and return it to us by email at info@hksfa.org or by post at 14/F, BOC Group Life Assurance Tower, 136 Des Voeux Road Central, Hong Kong.
9. What is the process of transferring my membership from another CFA Institute member society to the Hong Kong Society?
If you are a Regular Member or an Affiliate Member of one of CFA Institute's society membership, you may add more than one society membership or transfer it to HKSFA.  Please note that membership fees paid are non-transferrable.
To add HKSFA membership, please do it at your own account page of CFA Institute via www.cfainstitute.org.  At the same time, please complete a “Personal Particulars of Member” form and return it to us by email at info@hksfa.org or by post at 14/F, BOC Group Life Assurance Tower, 136 Des Voeux Road Central, Hong Kong.  To cancel the membership of the other CFA Institute's member society, please send an email to CFA Institute at cmservices@cfainstitute.org for processing. 
Please note that you cannot transfer from a Regular/Affiliate Member to become an Associate Member of HKSFA or vice versa.  If you would like to become a different class of member, please submit your application to us as described in Question 5 and 6 above.
10. If I have withdrawn my membership with HKSFA in the past two years, how can I reinstate my membership?
If you are a Regular Member or an Affiliate Member and have only withdrawn the membership of HKSFA but you are still a member of CFA Institute, you can reinstate/re-activate your HKSFA membership at your own account page of CFA Institute's website at www.cfainstitute.org. CFA Institute will collect the Annual Dues on our behalf and you are required to pay for the full year Annual Dues of HKSFA no matter at which date of the year you reinstate/re-activate your membership. At the same time, please complete and return a "Member Contact Details" Form so that we can update your contact details accordingly.
If you are an Associate Member and would like to reinstate your membership, please complete a Reinstatement Form and return it to HKSFA together with the Annual Dues.
11. If I have withdrawn my Regular or Affiliate membership with both CFA Institute and HKSFA in the past, how can I reinstate my membership?
If you have withdrawn your Regular or Affiliate membership of both CFA Institute and HKSFA, you can reinstate your memberships by making the request via CFA Institute's website at your own account page. You should indicate that you would like to reinstate both the memberships of CFA Institute and the Hong Kong Society. You are required to pay for both the full year Annual Dues of CFA Institute and HKSFA no matter at which date of the year you reinstate/re-activate your membership. At the same time, please complete and return a "Member Contact Details" Form so that we can update your contact details accordingly.
12. Do I need a sponsor for my Associate membership application?
An Associate Member applicant has to be recommended by an HKSFA Regular Member or his/her current employer.  The sponsor has to complete a Sponsor Form and the applicant has to be submit it together with his/her Application Form and Ethics Declaration Form.
13. If I am an Associate Member and would like to become a Regular/Affiliate Member, do I have to pay for the Annual Dues again within the same fiscal year?
To apply for Regular/Affiliate Member, please refer to information provided in Question 6.  If an existing Associate Member activates as a Regular Member or an Affiliate Member by paying the Annual Dues for the same fiscal year via CFA Institute's website, this member can request HKSFA to reufnd HK$780 that he/she has paid for the Associate membership.  If this member does not have to pay for any Annual Dues for becoming a Regular Member or an Affiliate Member, no refund will be arranged.  If a Regular Member or an Affiliate Member wants to become an Associate Member, please refer to information provided in Question 5 and there will not be any refund arrangement.
14. If I am a member of both CFA Institute and HKSFA, how should I update my personal details such as address changes and working experience?
We are maintaining a different membership system from CFA Institute.  Please inform both of us to update your record in both organisations.  To update your personal particulars with CFA Institute, please send them an email at cmservices@cfainstitute.org or do it through their website at www.cfainstitute.org to manage your account. To update HKSFA's record, please send us an email at info@hksfa.org or do it through our website at here.
15. I want to understand more about the Society. Where can I find the past annual reports?
You may download a copy from our website at the Annual Report page.
16. I am an HKSFA member and interested to be one of the volunteers for the Society. What shall I do?
You can send an email to us at info@hksfa.org to indicate the area you are interested to help. We will forward the message to the appropriate Committee Chair to follow up with you.
Events
1. Does HKSFA provide continuing education activities qualifying for CPT hours recognized by SFC?
Yes. HKSFA is recognised by The Securities and Futures Commission as an institution for providing Continuous Professional Training. We provide Continuing Education programmes and seminars qualifying for CPT hours. HKSFA will indicate the qualified number of CPT hours in the flyer of the events.
2. Where can I get information of events organised by HKSFA?
All HKSFA events are posted in the Events Section of HKSFA's website at http://www.hksfa.org/event_list.php?cid=1
3. What is the CFA Institute Continuing Education Programme? Has Hong Kong participated in the CFA Institute Approved-Provider Programme and does HKSFA provide any events qualifying for professional development credit?

HKSFA has participated in the CFA Institute Approved-Provider Programme and provides activities qualifying for professional development credit for the CFA Institute Professional Development Programme. If an event is part of the Approved-Provider Programme, you will see the CE logo shown on the flyer.

1. Does HKSFA have job listings?
HKSFA members, who have paid up all the dues to the Society, could have access to job listings in the "Job Opeing" area of our website. You should be given the access codes when you join HKSFA. If you forgot your access codes, please submit the "Forgot password" form or send your request to HKSFA at info@hksfa.org.  Kindly quote your membership number in all correspondences.
2. Who can use the JobLine Services and how to do that?
