About this Forum

The growth of Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (ESG) investing has been exponential in recent years. Several academic papers on Asia-Pacific Research Exchange (ARX) have demonstrated robust evidence pointing towards alpha potential when ESG factors are included within investment decisions and asset allocation in the long-run.
Since 1 January 2016, the amended ESG Guide was applied to listed companies on both the main and growth enterprise market (GEM) boards of the stock exchange. This implied that henceforth, listed companies must state in their annual or ESG reports if they have complied with the provisions set out in the ESG Guide. If they have not, they must explain why not and give considered reasons.
It is now more than a year since the ESG enactment was made compulsory. In light of that, HKSFA, CFA Institute and ACCA will be co-hosting a forum on 19 September to define what is excellent ESG reporting and, to understand how investors take ESG issues into consideration during investment analysis.
