The Indian economy has performed quite well over the last two decades and marked its presence as one of the fastest growing economies of the world with an expected growth rate of above 7% in the medium to long term. The Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, who took office in 2014 has launched major policy initiatives which include a liberal and investor friendly Foreign Direct Investment policy, a unified taxation regime thereby significantly improving the Ease of Doing Business. With population of 1.3 billion, growing middle class and young consumers, India is one of the most potential retail markets.   
Recent years have seen rapid rise in bilateral relations between India and Hong Kong.  India-Hong Kong trade in 2017 has reached US$ 34 billion with growth of 27.0%.  India is Hong Kong’s 3rd largest export market destination and Hong Kong is also India’s 3rd largest export market. With close to US$ 1 billion investment from Hong Kong into India in 2017, Hong Kong companies also have been increasingly looking at India as an investment destination.
With this background, to help Hong Kong business community to be abreast with the first-hand information of India, Consulate General of India in association with HKSFA is organising a networking gathering on “Doing Business and Investing in India”. Mr. Puneet Agarwal, Consul General of India will talk about India’s business opportunities and latest developments.

Consul-General of India to Hong Kong SAR and Macau SAR
Mr. Puneet Agrawal joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1997. His previous diplomatic assignments include Berlin (1999-2002), Thimphu (2005-2009) and Vienna (2009-2013). Before taking up his current position, he was Joint Secretary (UNES) at Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.  He also served in various capacities in the Ministry of External Affairs, handling matters pertaining to West Europe during 2002-2005, and Bangladesh, Sri Lanka & Myanmar (BSM) during 2013-2014.  He also speaks German.
Mr. Puneet Agrawal assumed charge as the Consul-General of India to Hong Kong SAR and Macau SAR on 28 July 2016.
Educational Qualification: B.Tech. Electrical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi
