About the Panelists

Mr. Gary Chan, CEO - Greater China, The CFO Centre Hong Kong
Mr. Chan  was also the corporate finance director of TNG (Asia) Limited, a financial technology company based in Hong Kong, between April 2015 and February 2017. He has assisted in the company’s successful application of the stored value facility licence to the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (‘‘HKMA’’), with the licence being granted in August 2016. During the process, Mr. Chan has overseen the process of fulfilling all the necessary business requirements set out by the HKMA including internal controls and placement of its senior management team.

From August 2009 to August 2013, Mr. Chan was a partner at Creat Capital Company Limited (‘‘Creat’’), a company that focuses on private equity investments.

Mr. Chan started his career with KPMG in Toronto, Canada in 1998 under that firm’s real estate practice. In January 2001, he joined Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu in Hong Kong as an accountant under that firm’s reorganisation services group.  From March 2007 to February 2009 Mr. Chan assumed the position of an associate in the fixed income, currency and commodities division of Goldman Sachs (Asia) L.L.C. in Hong Kong. 

Mr. David Chang, CEO & Regional Head, Greater China, Franklin Templeton Investments, Hong Kong
Since joining Franklin Templeton Investments in 2000, Mr. Chang was appointed as head of Sales & Marketing Hong Kong with responsibility for overseeing Franklin Templeton’s retail business.  In 2004, his role expanded to also cover Franklin Templeton’s Taiwan business.  Mr. Chang was promoted to Country Head of Hong Kong in April 2005 and Senior Director in October 2006.  In 2007, he has taken up the role of Regional Head (Greater China).  He is a Director of Franklin Templeton Investments (Asia) Limited (Hong Kong), Franklin Templeton Sealand Fund Management Co Ltd (China), Franklin Templeton Investment Management (Shanghai) Limited (China) and Franklin Templeton SinoAm Securities Investment Management Inc. (Taiwan).  In addition, he was an executive member of the Hong Kong Investment Funds Association.
Prior to joining Franklin Templeton, Mr. Chang had roles with Deutsche Bank and HSBC as a Vice President in Hong Kong and the ANZ Bank in Sydney.
Mr. Chang holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from Georgetown University and a master degree in education from the Open University Hong Kong.  He also volunteers as a supervisor at a school for mentally challenged in Hong Kong.  He is currently a Vice Chairman of the Hong Chi Association and Chairman of its Education Executive Committee.
Mr. William Chow, Deputy CEO, China Life Franklin Asset Management Co Limited
Mr. William CHOW is Deputy Chief Executive Officer of China Life Franklin Asset Management Co., Ltd. (“CLFAMC”).  He oversees the overall infrastructure of the firm, covering product development, information technology, operations, risk and controls, as well as middle-office coordination across the firm. He assumes a leadership role in devising corporate strategy, as well as managing the firm’s business and corporate affairs. He leads the firm’s efforts to provide best-in-class asset management services to top-tier institutional investors and distributors around the world. He is also a chairman of Risk Management Committee and a key member of CEO office and Investment Committee.
Before joining CLFAMC, Mr. CHOW gained his extensive expertise in asset management, ETF portfolio management and a solid track record in product development and strategy, through his experience with Value Partners Group (2010-17), Blackrock North Asia Limited (2008-10), State Street Global Advisors Asia Limited (SSgA) (2004-08) and UBS AG (2000-04).
At Value Partners Group, one of Asia’s Leading Asset Managers and the first asset management firm listed on The Hong Kong Stock Exchange, Mr CHOW was Group Managing Director, leading the exchange-traded funds (ETFs) business and Investor Relations.  He was also a member of Value Partners Group’s executive committee, responsible for overall corporate management and business strategy. 
At Blackrock, Mr. CHOW was a Senior Portfolio Manager for iShares ETFs.  He was the Lead Portfolio Manager of iShares FTSE A50 China Index ETF (one of the largest ETFs in Asia).
At SSgA, Mr. CHOW was a Portfolio Manager, responsible for various institutional equity indices, asset allocation and currency hedging strategies. Tracker Fund of Hong Kong was among the ETFs that he managed.
Mr. CHOW served as convener of the ETF Working Group under Financial Services Development Council – New Business Committee, and published “Strengthening Hong Kong as a Capital Formation Centre for Exchange Traded Funds” in October 2015.  He also served as a member of the Customer Advisory Board of Thomson Reuters, Financial and Treasury Services Committee of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce, as well as the ETF Working Group of HKEx.
Mr. CHOW graduated with a Master’s degree in Science in Operational Research from the London School of Economics and Political Science (UK). He also obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Hons) in Civil Engineering from the University College London (UK).

Mr. Christophe Lee - Founder, JP Asia Partners
Mr. Lee is the founder of JP Asia Partners which offers advisory services to asset & wealth management and FinTech companies. He is also a Fintech mentor at HK X Foundation and at The Beyond Venture Fund. Mr. Lee has 27 years of financial service industry experience and has worked at Morgan Stanley, Sun Hung Kai Financial, Goldman Sachs and Bankers Trust. Mr. Lee is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania.

Mr. Lee played an active role is the development of the asset management industry in Hong Kong. His HKSAR government appointments include the advisory committee of the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) from 2007 – 2009, and the Financial Services Development Council (FSDC) – New Business Committee since March 2013. He led the working group on FSDC paper titled “The Future of Fintech in Hong Kong” published in May 2017.  Mr. Lee chaired AIMA Hong Kong (the global trade association for hedge funds) for 8 years from 2004 to 2012. He was voted by AsianInvestor Magazine as one of the “Top 25 most influential people in Asian hedge funds”.

Mr. Ken Shih, Head of Sale and Marketing for AQUMON
Mr. Shih is Head of Sales and Marketing for AQUMON, a leading Artificial Intelligence-based Robo Advisor in Hong Kong. Mr. Shih has a collective 14-years of financial industry experience in Hong Kong and the United States. Prior to AQUMON, Mr. Shih was a Director of Investment Content and an Alternative Investment Sales strategizing sales and marketing financial solutions to UBS' and HSBC's wealth management clients in Hong Kong. In the United States, Mr. Shih was a quantitative Risk Analyst for multi-strategy hedge fund Ramius LLC. Mr. Shih graduated with a bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Dr. Jess Tang, PhD, General Manager, Head of Asset Management of China Merchant Securities Asset Management (HK) Co. Limited 
Dr Tang has 15 years of industry working experience, and has been dealing and investing in a variety of financial products, including FX, Equity Derivatives, Bonds, Equities, Real Estate, FoF etc. Prior to run CMS Asset Management (HK) Co., Ltd, a subsidiary of China Merchant Securities International, Dr Tang had been working for the world largest Inter-dealer broker, ICAP in London, and CICC, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, UBS in Hong Kong respectively. Over the last decade, Dr Tang has been cooperating with nearly 100 of funds and financial institutes globally, and participated in dozens of Hedge Funds’ initial establishments.
Dr Tang acquired PhD from Loughborough University and MSc from University of Manchester in UK, before she started her journey in Finance industry in London. 
Mr. Jim Veneau, Head of Fixed Income Asia, AXA Investment Managers Asia Limited
Mr. Jim Veneau is the Head of Fixed Income Asia at AXA Investment Managers Asia Limited. Mr. Veneau is responsible for managing Asian fixed income credit portfolios and developing firm's Asian Fixed Income credit strategy. Prior to this, he served at HSBC Global Asset Management (Hong Kong) Ltd., where he was an Investment Director in their Asian Fixed Income team responsible for managing both high yield and investment grade credit mandates as well as the team's risk budgeting and analytics.
• Jim joined AXA IM in 2013.
• He is responsible for the Asian fixed income team oversees the performance, monitoring and risk management of all Asian fixed income portfolios.
• Prior to joining AXA IM, Jim worked as an Investment Director/ Senior Portfolio Manager at HSBC Asset Management in Hong Kong with oversight of key Asian high yield and investment grade mandates. Jim was a leading contributor to the creation and implementation of dedicated high yield and investment grade strategies for HSBC’s Asian Fixed Income team as well as its risk budgeting and portfolio analytics rollout.
• Jim was formerly a senior credit analyst for HSBC in both Hong Kong and New York with a focus on Asian high yield corporates and the US telecom, media and technology sectors.
• Prior to joining HSBC, Jim was a senior telecommunications analyst for Moody’s Investors Service in New York. Jim has been working in the industry since 1995.
• He holds a Masters in International Affairs and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Columbia University and is a CFA charter holder.

Ms. Eleanor Wan, Chief Executive Offier, BEA Union Investment Management Limited
Ms Wan possesses more than 23 years of experience in Asia’s asset management industry. She is a highly-seasoned veteran having represented various international asset managers in Asia. She had an extensive background in various functional areas within the mutual fund industry in Asia, including overall business development, marketing, sales, client servicing, operation and general management. Before joining BEA Union Investment in mid 2011 as its CEO, she was CEO of the Institute of Financial Planners of Hong Kong, leading the Institute’s efforts in promoting the professional standards of financial planners in Hong Kong. Prior to that, she was CEO of Allianz Global Investors Hong Kong Limited, where she was responsible for developing and implementing growth strategies and managing multinational distributors. 

Apart from her impressive career, Ms Wan is also involved in various public services in Hong Kong. She is currently a member of the Disciplinary Panel of Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants and a member of Professional Ethics Review Committee of the Institute of Financial Planners of Hong Kong. She had served as the Board Member of the Deposit Protection Board of Hong Kong and chaired its investment committee from 2008 to 2011. She was also a member of the Insurance Advisory Board from 2010-2013. She has been an active member of the Hong Kong Investment Funds Association, serving as a Vice-Chairman from 2006 to 2008.
