Depression is a common disease that is a leading cause of disability worldwide. In Hong Kong, the prevalence of depression is about 5%. It is often missed by individuals if they do not recognise the symptoms. In this talk, the causes, symptoms and treatment for this disease will be explored to obtain a better understanding of this disease.  
The points covered includes:
  • How to recognise if you have depression
  • Signs and symptoms of depression
  • Treatment options for depression
  • How to prevent depression.

About the speaker
Dr. Ronnie Pao is a psychiatrist who graduated in United Kingdom in the University of Nottingham and trained in the Charing Cross Rotation in London for his psychiatric training. He returned to Hong Kong in 2004 and worked in Kwai Chung hospital for over 10 years. He is now a private psychiatrist. His special interest includes Addiction Disorders.
He is a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrist and is a fellow of the Hong Kong College of Psychiatrist and the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine. He was also an Associate Professor of the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
