Are you having a hard time writing your professional conduct statement? Do you have difficulties finding professional references? If your answer is “yes!” to any of these questions, then this event is for you!

HKSFA is pleased to invite Ms. Janice Hon, Society Membership Services Manager, Asia Pacific of CFA Institute to share their insider advices on nailing the professional conduct statement, getting profession references and submitting a highly effective CFA Charter application. Mr. Tony Watson, CFA, HKSFA Membership Committee Chairman would also share their insights as veteran for providing working experiences and professional references .  Mr David Ching, CFA, vice-chairman of the HKSFA Candidate Education Committee and other HKSFA volunteers would also share their recent first-hand experiences in applying for their CFA Charters and the benefits that the CFA Charter brings to their careers and personal lives. We would also give an introduction to the CFA Exam Study Group organised by the HKSFA – you will be given an opportunity to sign up as a Study Group Leader to help the next generation of CFA Candidates in order to give back to the CFA community and to share your happiness and tears throughout your CFA exam journey!

Speakers Bio:
Ms. Janice Hon
Society Membership Services Manager | Asia Pacific, CFA Institute

Janice Hon is the society membership services manager for Asia Pacific of CFA Institute. She is based in Hong Kong.

She handles the full spectrum of membership management work from providing strategic advice to societies in their recruitment and retention efforts to delivering membership value.

Prior joining CFA Institute she played a role as Membership Manager at the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong and served as Business Development Manager at the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). 
Throughout her career in membership management and business development in B2B and B2C environment, she has managed membership relations and recruitment, provided membership consultation to prospects and potential candidates.
Janice has also held roles in sales and marketing and is experienced in relationship building, event planning, communications and customer services. 
She has a Bachelor of Commerce Major in Marketing from University of Western Sydney, Australia.

Mr. Tony Watson, CFA
President & Membership Committee Chairman

Mr. Tony Watson, CFA, has worked in Asia’s credit markets for over 20 years.

He joined Far East Investment Management (Hong Kong) Limited in 2016 where he is currently a Portfolio Manager and Responsible Officer. Tony left LIM Advisors Limited in 2015 as Senior Portfolio Manager (Asia ex-Japan High Yield), Responsible Officer and a member of the Asia Multi Strategy Fund’s Board of Directors. He joined LIM in 2008 from Morgan Stanley where he was Head of Debt Research for Asia (ex–Japan). Tony variously covered corporate, utility and bank debt issuers at ING Bank NV (Hong Kong) from 2000 to 2004 and at ABN AMRO Bank NV (Singapore) from 1997 to 2000. He was regularly ranked by Asiamoney, FinanceAsia and The Asset as one of Asia (ex-Japan)’s top 10 publishing credit analysts between 2001 and 2007. Tony worked at Thomson BankWatch (Hong Kong) [later acquired by Fitch Ratings] as a bank credit analyst between 1995 and 1997. He started in Asia as an intern at Royal Bank of Canada (Singapore Branch) in 1994.

Tony joined the Hong Kong Society of Financial Analysts in 1996. He was elected to its Board in 2010, became Vice President in 2017 and President in 2018. Tony was HKSFA’s Acting Managing Director from March to September 2015. He was named CFA Institute’s 2015 Volunteer of the Year and awarded its 25-year Continuing Education Milestone in 2017.

Tony became a CFA charterholder in 2000. He graduated from Western Business School (now Ivey Business School) at the University of Western Ontario with an MBA in 1995 and from St. Francis Xavier University with a BBA in 1988.

Mr. David Ching, CFA
HKSFA Candidate Education Committee Vice-chairman

David is the Head of Hong Kong & China Basic Materials research at Macquarie. Based in Hong Kong, David covers the whole range of commodities, basic materials and metals & mining stocks in Asia Pacific with total market cap of over US$300bn. He is ranked as a top 3 analyst in the “Institutional Investor” Poll. Previously, David has covered the Asia-Pacific Materials and Oil & Gas sectors in top-ranked teams at Bank of America Merrill Lynch/ Morgan Stanley. Before his career as an equities analyst, David held various corporate finance and strategy-related roles at Jardine Matheson. David is a first-class honours graduate from the University of Oxford, where he majored in Engineering, Economics and Management. He is a CFA charterholder and a CIMA-qualified accountant.
