What are the challenges and opportunities for FinTech in the GBA?  The Greater Bay Area’s (GBA) varied technology standards, banking and legal systems present a unique set of opportunities and challenges.  Can Macao leverage these to accelerate the development of its financial sector?  
The Hong Kong Society of Financial Analysts (HKSFA) and The Macao Institute of Financial Services (MIoFS), and CFA Institute are pleased to host a panel that will provide some answers.  Consisting of FinTech operators, funders and thought leaders, our panel will present their business models and discuss experiences and outlook for FinTech in the GBA.

About the Moderator & Panel Speakers

Mr. Jeffrey Ng, CFA 

Head of FinTech Solutions, Ping An OneConnect Bank
Mr. Jeffrey Ng has recently joined OneConnect in Hong Kong, leading FinTech provider of advanced technology-enabled Digital Banking Solutions, Digital Insurance Solutions, Digital Investment Solutions, and Software-as-a-Service Cloud Platform, covering sales, product development, risk management, operations and technology.
Prior to this role, he heads the Data Lab of BNP Paribas in APAC that developed A.I. & Data Analytics solution for various businesses of its Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB), from front to back office, and was the Vice-Chairman of the French Chamber of Commerce’s FinTech Committee in Hong Kong. Before this role, he has participated in trade finance blockchain project of the bank. Since 2010, he had built the client development and analytics team in the bank in the region.
Before BNPP, with PwC Consulting during the Financial Crisis in 2008, he had worked in credit analytics and policies, scenarios forecasting, and capital stress testing for Commercial Banks in China. His career started as Head of MIS & Analytics in Consumer Banking with GE Money.
He graduated in Hong Kong Polytechnic University with Dual first honors in Computing and Management; MBA in Finance with Chinese University of Hong Kong.
Mr. Edmond Lau, CFA
Managing Director, Lingfeng Capital
Mr. Edmond Lau has 20 years of profound experience in investment, financing and business development, and is currently the Managing Director of Lingfeng Capital focusing on FinTech investment. He was the Head of Innovative Incubation Centre and the Head of Merger & Integration in SF-Express responsible for establishment, due diligence and management of incumbents and investments. Prior to that, he served as the Head of Investment in FIH Mobile and the Investment Director in CLSA Capital Partners focusing on areas like mobile Internet, mobile application and water technologies. Edmond was previously a Vice President in Citigroup and a senior consultant in Accenture providing financing solutions and strategic advices to telecom, media and technology corporations.
Edmond holds an MBA (distinction) from London Business School, a Bachelor of Information Engineering (first class) from Chinese University of Hong Kong, and a Bachelor of Laws from China University of Political Science and Law. Edmond is devoted to the technology development in Hong Kong and is often invited to be a guest speaker at various tech functions, such as Hong Kong FinTech Week, Tencent Greater Bay Area FinTech Forum, and CFA China Investment Summit. He is founding board member of CFA Society Shenzhen, Co-President of Hong Kong Internet Finance Association, board member of Hong Kong Business Angel Network, and a former board member of the Hong Kong Society of Financial Analysts. Edmond is also a member of Entrepreneurship Committee Advisory Group of Hong Kong Cyberport, and a part-time lecturer for FinTech courses in tertiary institutions in Hong Kong. Edmond holds the designation of CFA and FRM.

Ms. Joyce Ng
Managing Director, OurCrowd
Ms. Joyce Ng serves as Managing Director of OurCrowd, overseeing management responsibility of the hybrid venture capital platform in the Greater China region. With over 12 years of experience in alternative asset management, Joyce was previously the partner and senior portfolio manager of Sumeru Capital, a Greater China-focused equity long/short fund. Prior to joining Sumeru Capital, she was a portfolio manager at LIM Advisors, managing an event-driven portfolio of Asia's oldest hedge fund.  Joyce started her career at Citigroup Hong Kong, where she first worked as a corporate finance analyst at Global Markets and then as an Investment Counselor at Private Bank. Joyce holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Chicago and an MBA from Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business.

Mr. Ken Shih
Head of Sales & Marketing, AQUMON
Mr. Kenneth Shih is Head of Sales and Marketing at AQUMON, a leading Artificial Intelligence-based Robo Advisor in Hong Kong. He has a collective 14-years of financial industry experience in Hong Kong and the United States. Prior to AQUMON, Ken was a Director of Investment Content and an Alternative Investment Sales strategizing sales and marketing financial solutions to UBS' and HSBC's wealth management clients in Hong Kong. In the United States, Ken was a Quantitative Risk Analyst for multi-strategy hedge fund Ramius LLC. Ken graduated with a bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
